ello. do the right thing

This blog, is one that i don’t have a huge opinion on, I mean i can only comment on what i believe and what i have lived through. I do not feel that what i say about this topic can be viewed as FALSE but we all do have our own oppions, i did not live during the time when color was an issue * BAM* maybe i am living during a time when color is an issue… LINK http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Hills/8908/racists.htm I have heard that racism is coming back from the jena 6 topic to anything else, it seems to me that color can always play a role in anything bad that happens in the world. I thought the movie was really good at the beggining but it did not interest me much in end, I could not relate to the ending… I thought it was stupid, it jsut doesnt seem to me that i the police just killed radio raheem… it just seems very dumb to me, maybe because i did’nt live during the time this movie portrayed, but i think it sucks that he died because the bug dude wanted some pictures of black people on the wall of fame. In the end of the movie that the one studderly guy did get to put the picture up on the wall of fame but not after riot, death, and fighting occured. I mean i know its nice to have pictures up on the wall of all but if that was a pizza shop owened by a black person its not nessacary that theere would be any white people on his wall of fame… it was the choice of the owner to put up so called white people. BUT even though the black people didnt apporove neither did I, i mean it wasnt that it was WHITE people it seemed like it was ITALIAN people… i did not notice any White people that didnt have an accent on the wall of fame… i would never walk into a restarunt with my music blarring sure it was showing FIGHT THE POWER, but still you can’t exactly do that… if someone is providing me a service i would follow there rules but if it was my business i would hope people would follow my rules. Also, it seemed like many people loved sal’s pizza but as soon as there was an issue it was all his fault. i think people should just be happy, “FORGET THE PAST, REMEMBER THE LESSON” – ME…. I feel like history repeats it self even if thought but thats another topic….

bye i cant spell.

  1. Dennis,
I can understand that you can’t really relate to the film. However, that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t have meaning or cultural impact. How about utilizing your source in your writing? Or attempting to answer some of the questions that I handed out?

  2. And, you know, I was re-reading your source, too. One of things that is interesting to examine in it is the “type 3″ racist. I find it hard to imagine that type of racism has gone extinct, even (or particularly) on this campus island in Detroit…?

  3. In regards to your view that you can’t understand the movie because you weren’t really alive when it was made; you have to realize that these problems are not past memories. Racism still widely exists today, and, it’s just a hidden racism.

  4. I can see how you wouldn’t be able to relate, i can’t relate much either, growing up in the suburbs. But the issues can still be clear enough, using history and events that relate to the movie.

  5. OK. This is a really interesting blog and you have some really good points. I like the point about if you go into someone’s business you should have to follow there services. If they don’t like it then they should have to start there own business. I think that is a part of the movie that I did not like. Good points.

  7. ok miss gerds i dont believe in that racism around detroit, sure i grew up in the BURBS but i still wouldnt look at a person anydifferent if there red, white, blue, black, pokadot there all the same to me i love all haha. i walked around 8 mile today and im not afraid to get robbed… if i get robbed its probably because that person needed something more in there life than me, i probably wont remember if i die, cuz ill be dead… i cant just watch my back every second of my life or i wont even be able to live life… sure there are high murder, theft, rape and stuff in detroit… but ill give em a chaance… if iget shot that sucks. but i dont wanna live my life in fear. Sure if i get robbed ill hate every person of that race… but thats just a normal animal instinct. The only reason im so cool with anyone is because even though im WHITE i see so much racism… my dad is was born in slovakia. he moved to america to start a new life… he did just that he moved her with NO MONEY and went straight to work. now he is an electricain but he gets so much crap because he has an accent. i mean people think hes dumb at times cuz he cant speak all that great but when you see him work your amazed by how fast he can set up electric stuff. it sucks… but it wasnt always like that at his old job he was easily the favorite. and all the people at his job looked for help to him with any problem…. but now he has a new job because the old company shut down, this new job is in the same part of detroit a block away. But now again he has to re establish him self as a great a electricain. so the reason why i love everyone is because i dont know where they come from… i dont know who tehre parents are i dont know how they live there life, i have no idea what they are thinking. i just give everyone the benefit of the doubt there a good person. k byeeeeeeeeee this is like another blog, and like all other blogs i write i am not going back to proofread Byeeeeeeeeeeeee

  8. I really agree with you. I think racism does affect all of us in a way but I was never really a victim of it to any degree that was dipicted in this movie. I for sure understood why you said you couldn’t really relate.

  9. Its OK, Dennis. Like I was trying to say…I don’t think you’re racist. That’s not at all the point I was trying to get at. I just think that maybe when someone is surrounded by people that are of a similar racial background, its nearly impossible to see the clash between races that the movie was trying to show, whether you are black, white, brown or polka dotted.
